Newcastle Skin Medical Centre offers medical laser treatment for sun-damaged skin and early skin cancer, alongside a range of laser and broadband light (BBL) treatments. Suitability for any treatment is assessed at consultation.
Medical laser treatment
Treatment of sun-damaged skin and early skin cancer
The practice uses a Fotona Erbium YAG medical laser system, which allows the depth of treatment to be varied from surface ablation through to deeper dermal remodelling. Topical or local anaesthetic is used for patient comfort.
Referrals from GPs
Newcastle Skin Medical Centre welcomes referrals from general practitioners for patients with actinic keratosis or early skin cancer.

Laser peels for sun-damaged skin
Laser resurfacing removes very thin layers of the epidermis and can stimulate collagen production in the deeper skin layers. The depth of treatment is controlled by your doctor and is matched to your skin and the recovery time that suits you.
Fotona4D®
A non-invasive treatment using two laser wavelengths across four treatment modes, applied to the face and inside the mouth. It targets facial ageing including wrinkles and nasolabial folds. No needles or anaesthetic are required.
TwinLight® acne and acne scar treatment
Uses an Nd:YAG laser to target overactive sebaceous glands in active acne, and an Er:YAG laser to resurface acne scarring.
SmoothEye™
A non-ablative Er:YAG treatment for the skin around the eyes, aimed at tightening and reducing the appearance of periorbital wrinkles.
FracTAT® tattoo removal
A fractional Q-switched Nd:YAG technique in which micro-channels are created in the skin before Q-switched tattoo removal, allowing gases formed during treatment to escape. The same approach can be applied to scar treatment.
BBL broadband light
BBL is a form of intense pulsed light (IPL). It delivers light into the skin, which is absorbed by targets such as melanin in pigmentation or haemoglobin in small blood vessels.
BBL Corrective
Broadband light targeting pigmentation and fine vessels that contribute to redness, including freckles, age spots and rosacea.
Forever Young BBL™
Light energy delivered into the deeper layers of the skin, used for skin that has had significant sun exposure over time.
Forever Clear BBL™
A three-step acne treatment: blue light to target acne-causing bacteria in the pores, yellow light to address inflammation and associated redness, then infrared light. A personalised plan and skincare regimen is provided.
